Running lights don't work anymore

I have a 2001 Ford Windstar to pull my boat around. The running lights work on the van but not on the trailer. I get no power from the brown wire at the van. The brake and signal lights work on the trailer. I checked the wiring on the van side and everything seems to be OK.<br /><br />It's a hard system to test because the Windstar operates off of a positive ground and none of the wires get cut for trailer hook up. The harness plugs directly into the existing plugs on the vans tail lights harness.<br /><br />Has anybody else had this problem with the Windstar? Hello dymo, If you have a 12 volt tester have someone work the van lights while your testing the plug from the van. If all checks out good, plug in the trailer and check the brown wire all the way to the lights. But first I would check the trailer lights to make sure they are grounded good (pull the lights and clean the grounding bolts). Hope this helps

I know it seems unlikely but also check for blown fuses.

Thanks guys. I've checked the fuses and tested the plug at the van. Brake lights and signals work at the van but not the running lights (brown wire). I have to get running lights working at the pigtail before I go to the trailer. I'm starting to think that something has gone out to lunch that's plugged into the main harness. Sorry.. I just chased a short all the way up to my steering colum, found it in my turn signal cam. Rewired trailer and put new harness on truck before I chased the short. Did you check the running light wire before the harness connection?? Just trying to keep you from having to follow the wire into the cluster in the dash.<br />Good Luck

Turned out to be the module in the harness for the trailer that's plugged into the vans wiring. Replaced it and all lights work now.<br /><br />Thanks for your help.<br /><br />Dymo
