Dumb question guys...
Is it harmful to run a motor without a lower unit? I have a Johnny 35 HP that was gifted to me. I started it and ran it for a few seconds with a hose up to the water tube.
Is there a possibility to damage the motor by running it without the lower unit? I want to run it longer to tune it etc. but I don't want to cause internal damage due to no resistance on the crank.

Thanks,
HD

Don't let it run faster than a fast idle without load.

As long as it's not running to fast and you got good water to cool it I'd do it. Gonna be noisy though.
