Running on 1 cyl.

I have a '76 Johnson 9.9, and brother and I were out to the Lake for the 1st trip this season. Pulled like a son-of-a-gun and finally babied it to half throttle, where it suddenly stopped like someone shoved a crowbar in the gears. Got it freed from forward and got it restarted after awhile. Trolled most of the day, on the Minn-Kota.
This was the first time this has happened in the 2 years I have owned this motor. Very disappointing, to say the least. Today I bought new plugs for her, and when I took the cowling off, the lower plug wire was off!! Put in new plugs and it started right up. Ran it on the muffs for a couple of minutes, as I haven't a barrel. Here's my question...Have I damaged the motor any, by running it(when it did run) on 1 cylinder. Sorry for long intro, but I thought y'all should have all the info. Pure stupidity on my part! I can't get Sea-Foam here, in Nova Scotia (Canada) to clean the cylinder walls and piston heads.
Thanks for any help...

I'm using Champion L82C plugs, is this correct?
Thanks..

Champion is correct. I believe those are correct.

Water pump? Yes, it has one. Have you changed it? My guess is-NO.

Re: Running on 1 cyl.

I never queried about the water-pump...perhaps you have me confused with another post. I was wondering if I caused any damage by running on one cylinder for the short time I did. Water-pump works perfectly, as it was rebuilt at the same time the impeller was changed, last fall. Sorry for the confusion on my part, if there was any.

The bigger question here is: What did your brother do to make this happen?

Clearly it's all his fault.

Re: Running on 1 cyl.

Thanks rickdb, it ran ok, after the new plugs while on the muffs, here at the house. The L82C's apparently are the replacement for "no longer available" L81C.
Couldn't blame it on brother, as he built me a new set of steps for the house!
Thanks again guys...
