This maybe be a stupid question but I don't know so I shal ask.
I have a 1970 Viking 9.6 and was wandering if running on 1cylinder would make the motor sluggish and no top end power? Also I put in new plugs and the top one has yellowed but the bottom one hasn't .

I have checked spark and it seems ok but not sure how far the gap was of the spark. Also I tool my flywheel off and found that the points one was way open and the otherone wAs closed could this be part of my issue

Thanks for the help

Yea that would be a problem.
The points should open and close as the crank turns.Should be 20 thousand gap.
Sandpaper the points. Then get sparkies and test the spark.Holding the plug against the block will show but the sparkies work best.
Do a compression test.J
