I have a new to me 1988 Evinrude 175hp. (M&S # not readable)

Since I have got the motor it has had a problem after it gets warmed up, let say 1 mile from the ramp, were it starts losing power??

At first it will go stop go stop go stop like someone is playing with the gas.
Then I will get it to full throttle and its just bogged down and I have to let up and just idle back to the ramp??

At one point the ball was collapsing so I have replaced. Does not collapse any longer.

I have De carbed, Sea foamed, cleaned tanks, new gas filter, new ball, blew the vent and lines out with compressed air.

I am at a loss?? Some one told me they had a problem like this and it was a power pack??

Any help will be appercated!!

Re: Running Problem

Well, I'd say you have a fuel delivery problem and I'd start looking at the tank and work my way back to the carbs. Since you had a collapsing bulb you either had a fuel blockage before the bulb or your bulb was indde bad. You replaced the bulb but you need to check that fuel is actually getting past the bulb in sufficient quantity for you motor. If you can't find anything wrong there then take her for a test run and when she starts acting up start pumping the bulb abd see if she picks up.

Re: Running Problem

run it on a 6 gallon remote tank.
if this stops the problem, the problem is your tank.
vent clogged, water, debris, antisiphonvalve etc etc.
if the problem doesnt go away, check for fuel pressure from the pump to the carb.
it should be 4 psi min at wot.
do you have fresh fuel in the tank?

did you clean out all the yets in the carbs, make shure there open.
carb vent is open.
air jets are clean.

when it hapens and you hit the primer does it pick up?

if it does spray some gass in the carbs trought and if the motor revs up you have defently a fuel isseu.
if the motor bogs down it might be not a fuel isseu.
if it doesnt make a difference it could be a spark isseu.

good luck

My sentiments exactly.

You may have a tank problem. Try running it with the tank filler cap loose.

Re: Running Problem

Thanks I have done all the above, except run on a different tank.

I will try that next, but I don't believe thats going to be the problem??

Vent all cleaned with compressed air and tank bubbles when I spray air in there.

Blew air from the ball to the tank thur the line and gas was bubbling out the filler.

I have brand new water separator filter, and it shows no water.

This tank has NO anti siphon vaule .

So I will try another tank, and how do you check fuel pressure?

Re: Running Problem

i need a fuel pressure guage and a vacuum guage if the fuel pressure guage does not have vacuum

3-6 psi after vro pump
less than 5" of vacuum before fuel pump
