Hi all,

I have 1999 Volvo Penta 5.0Gi (WT series engine, Throttle Body Injection) with 634 hours. For the last 2 seasons its been running rich causing a blackish film on the transom and a increase in fuel smell idling, plugs are on the blacker side.

It does run smoothly, idles extremely well and can run up to WOT and anywhere in between perfectly. So while I probably should just be happy and keep boating, it does continue to bother me.

So far I have done the following:
1. Replaced Cap and Roter
2. New Plug wires (and plugs)
3. New MAP and Engine Coolant sensors
4. New PCV
5. New IAC

Im also going to be sending the two injectors out for cleaning as I can see the Port side injector has a drip.

I have been looking at the Throttle Body. I know from the automotive side the fuel pressure regulators in the GM TBI would tend to fail/get gummed up and cause a rich condition. With the flame arrester off it does seem quite wet underneath.

As has been well documented Volvo has abandoned a lot of parts for the TBI engines. Im looking to see what can be done about servicing the fuel pressure regulator. Volvo use to make a repair kit, but its now discontinued. Does anyone have any part info (i.e. cross referencing over to the automotive side) or servicing ideas for the regulator?

Any thoughts or past experiences would be greatly appreciated (besides dumping the TBI and switching to a Carb setup:))
