my 83 50hp evinrude was rebuilt i have been running 30;1 for the first 12hrs to break in. im going to go to 50;1 once i finish this tank out. i removed the plugs and they are clean after 12hrs.

my question is; should'nt this be an indicator that both cyl are firing well and also good compression?
i was told by the guy that rebuilt it that if it is running right the plugs wont foul.

If the carbs are set correctly, and you don't do a lot of low-speed cruising or idling (a no-no during break in anyways) your plugs shouldn't foul. You can't read compression by a plug, only a gauge. Hope your rebuild lasts a long time. :)

Compression gauge at NAPA? About $40. If you check it now, with a fresh rebuild, you can monitor it wear on down the road.

c/6

Hooty
