I have a 3.0 OMC cobra drive. I recently had the impeller changed in the drive, and this was the first time back on the the lake since then. It idles five, but once going for mid or full throttle it boggs down then shuts completly down.It will bogg for a couple of seconds then run out, I can bring back to idle prior to it shutting down, but if I try to stay in full throttle it goes out. Could it now be ready for a carb rebuild or replacement?

Thanks for the help, as always the help on this site is worth a million bucks!!

Try changing the water circulator pump.

I had similar problems and once I changed the pump all was well.

I thought that he was experiencing overheating because the symptoms that he explained happened to me exactly the same way, after it overheated a little.

Re: Running well prior to impeller change

Reving in neutral is absolutely meaningless.....no load on engine.
