Runs fine but rubbing sound at idle

Got the impeller in and the boat runs great, but after a minute of running it makes a rubbing noise at idle, below 1,000. It goes away above 1,000. I don't want to assume this is normal break in noise or something. Plenty of water coming out the exhaust. I also flushed the raw water feed hose and a few more bits came out the outdrive. I haven't ran it for longer than a couple minutes because of this noise. I think I'm going to take it apart again just to ensure it's all doing fine.

Is this a new noise that started after the impeller change?

I'd say yes with a but..I think I heard it slightly before I changed it because of my previous post...

Got my mechanics stethescope out and it's definately the impeller. If I put the back of my hand on the housing the noise changes significantly. I read somewhere else to run the engine at 1000 rpms (not idle) for a few minutes and so I did that and there now is no noise except when it's shut down, the last half stroke of the engine makes a 'rruump" noise.. Possible breakin period? Otherwise she runs great.

Was your old impellor in bits and pieces? I had an impellor fall apart and there were chunks of it in the bottom of my outdrive between where the water gets sucked in and the impellor..
