I bought a 95 stratos 268 powered by a johnson 150 a few months back.the boat had been open in the elements for a few years at a local marine shop.the boat was brought in with a blown engine and after a new powerhead was installed the owner never picked up the boat.the marine shop proceeded to strip parts to recoupe the money of the new engine.after a lot of research and money I have it running, it just wont shut off by key or by lanyard.I found a black and what looks like tan wire loose and exposed in the trim bundle near the controls.I have know idea where it goes. could this be the culprit and if not, any ideas? .

black/yellow wire is the kill wire, may be faded to black/ tan.

Thanks for the info,would you happen to know where it might go. i pulled the lanyard switch to see if it was cut from there and all looked good.

The black/yellow wire should connect to one of the M terminals on the ign switch. The solid black wire should be on the other M terminal
