I pulled head on my '84 Sea Drive (V4 Cross Flow),to replace blown head gasket.

Found rust on cylinder walls, no pitting or scoring though.

What next?

Should I clean the walls with something, add oil, or ???????????

You can use a penetrant such as WD-40. Squirt it and let it soak, then wipe it out with a rag or paper towel. Keep repeating and you will eventually remove the rust, if it hasn't been there for a long period of time that is. Coat it with more penetrant or 2-cycle oil and reassemble, voila!!!
