Re: rustoleum

1) As long as the boat doesn't sit in the water for more than a few days straight, the rustolium should hold up fine.

2) Is the clear coat a rustolium product too? Make sure the clear coat is compatable.

Re: rustoleum

Hey sean, I painted my top sides with Rustoleum Metallics blue and then top coated it with Rustoleum clear. All in rattle cans. The rest of my boat is painted Rustoleum gloss white. Everything is good after 3 years except the clear coat does not seem to be holding up well. I have a couple areas where the clear has dulled, and gotten kinda chalky. I don't know if it was an issue with something that was spilled on it or suntan lotion or something like that but I don't do anything out of the ordinary with my boat. I wouldn't use the clear again.

I wouldn't hesitate to paint another boat with Rustoleum though. I think I would go for their Marine line of paints which at least my Lowes carries on a special small end cap display.

Re: rustoleum

I painted my small boat with Rustoleum (you can see picture below). It was white, now it's gray. Mostly, just to cover up the 800 sticker stains that were on it, but it has held up so far.

The boat is flat-fronted, and it rubbed off on one of my many brushes against the dock, but I think I may have not waited long enough before putting the boat in the water.
