Hello All,
I have a Volvo Penta 5.7GXi-E with about 210 hours and I need a little help. I have a leak from what looks like is coming from the impeller, but I don't think it is... I've replaced the impeller twice since the leak started. After I replaced it the first time, I figured it was a faulty impeller or o-ring, but after this time, I believe it's something else.
In photo 1, you can see the impeller cover, and then the rusty water on the bilge pump below. In photo 2, you can see the impeller taken apart, and a hole at about 12:00 on the base of the pump. That hole, I seem to think is some type of drain or overfill mechanism. That hole/drain is usually at 6:00 but I spun it to take a better look since I noticed the water coming from that, and not the seal after putting the impeller back on.
This problem started at the end of last season, and when I run the boat out of water this year, it's doing the same.... Does anybody know what this could be?
