Had to make a tough decision today. I put the CNC machine up for sale. The Millwork business is way down and the near future is not looking bright. The machine sits idle and the mortgage is due. Is anyone else out there in millwork that's in the same boat?

Not in millwork but I'm down about 20%. It's been a cruel year out there and I've cut all expenses, haven't replaced some broken equipment, duct taping others together and holding what cash I can. Sorry to hear about your shop and hope things pick up.

Re: Sad day at my shop

I was in construction and loved it. The more woodwork the better for me. We slowed down and slowly stopped. My boss bought a Truck that is working and keeping the business alive.

I am now working for the bridge tunnel and get to ride out Irene on an Island. Boy that sounds like fun :)

My ,now former, boss has been through this before and plannned well. He expects about 2 yrs of VERY tough times, then recovery. He will call me when he feels he can see the better times on the horizon.
