I just received a question that jarred me awake somewhat.
Those of you who have been around boats for a long time have, no doubt, taken a safe-boating coarse somewhere allong the line. Some have not. And then, what we see lots of here on iboats.com, is the first-time boater. Many times, the questions center upon mechanical malfunctions, and occasionally, there is someone who doesn't know the limits of thier craft.
It brings to the forefront, the ongoing need to teach the new boater the ropes. To train them as best as one can in the safe operation of a potentially dangerous machine.
I just wanted to urge everyone to keep one eye on the other guy, and the other on his own safe operation out there, and to take a safe-boating coarse.
Here is one such online coarse sponsored by the State of Florida... Be sure to take the test at the bottom. It's no panacea, but it sure can't hurt.
And finally, all you who read this, please add to it. Any such websites or sources, please postum here.

Florida's Online Safe-Boating Coarse.

Re: SAFE BOATING 101

Safe Boating Course Is a must. I think you should have to take one to run a boat anywhere in the US. I know Boat US as one on their site also. I have taken the Coast Guard and Power Squadron courses and feel they were both time well spent.
