Safe diy way to lift boat/part of boat off trailer?

I upgraded my renken for a 09 nitro 189sport. I'd like to get it up off the bunks so I can wash/wax but don't have a hoist/lift available. I could borrow a buddy's engine hoist but I'm not sure that's a good idea.

My thought was to jack up one side of the boat and block it against the trailer directly above the jackstands so the weight is directly supported by the floor. This way, the boat is on one bunk on one side and whatever I use to block it on the other (2x4 covered in carpet). Where to place the jack and corresponding blocking?

My other thought was to unbolt the outter most bunk and jack it up so I would essentially have the same situation as above, but then I won't be able to get under the outter bunks. Could try this, then go to the inner bunk on each side???

Thought I'd ask before contacting a dealer.

Thanks!

lower the tongue of the trailer as low as it will go. block the transom on both sides.
raise the tongue as high as it will go and block the keel about 1/2 way from transom to bow.... lower tongue done

use wood against hull with NO carpet.... carpet slides and you don't want that....

for safety sake I would slide some wood blocks between bunks and boat any time you will have any part of your body any place you could be injured if the boat fell back to the trailer... It won't fall but ya know better safe than sorry

why would you go through all that risk and effort to wash and wax the bottom of a boat? if you can't get to it from the side on the trailer, it doesn't matter!

How do you wash and wax the undercarriage of your car?

cause it's only 2 years old and he hasn't gotten "over it" yet lol

also a lot of folks think a waxed hull is faster.... it isn't but the misconception remains

Since you asked:

You pressure wash or run through a car wash and then spray kerosene over the undercarraige and wheel wells. When the volatiles in the kerosene evaporate you have a thin paraffin layer everywhere you had wet with kerosene.
Hijack over...

back in the day, for beach cars, they would take your oil after an oil change, put it in a garden sprayer, and spray your undercarriage. Of course it all ends up on the road and then washed into the rivers and bay, so it wasn't such a good idea after all.

If you pressure wash fittings like U joints you force sand into them. And once the mufflers rust off of them, you don't want volatiles all up under there.

Also for beach cars, you can slide a garden sprinkler under them and let them run for about a beer.

I always found the wax washed off almost immediately upon launching.....

Exactly! Plus it metions it in the manual.

Alright then, one less thing I "need" to do.

Thanks smoke!

Other trailers I've owned were rollers, this is carpeted bunks so I'm worried that over time, the hull where the bunks contact it will get scratched and rough. I don't keep it in the water (I like to lay out at night and just stare at it in my driveway! LOL) so it's on/off the trailer frequently. Probably doesn't make sense to wax cuz the wax would come off pretty quickly anyway.

actually the carpeted bunks will polish the hull nicely.

If there is gravel in the carpet it might scratch a little, but as long as the scratched go the length of the hull, it makes no difference whatsoever. it the bottom of the boat, and if you are that worried, can't be seen in the water or on the trailer, unless you flip! Now yo have more time to wax the inside of the piano hinges on the hatches.
