safe mode

How do you test to make sure safe mode is working or even the alarm? its on a 84 etln 50 hp and Im wondering if its a working. It has a sensor hanging on the head that you can pull out but thats all I know. Any help out there & Thanks

not real sure on a motor that old, but newer motors pulling the kill switch clip off
and turning key to star would set off the buzzer.

If that does not work disconnect the pink wire to the over heat switch on the head
and ground it to the block with the key in the on position

Thanks 99yam it was just grounding the pink wire. Thanks to you I now know my overheat works
