i am a single dad with a 19 month old. is there any regulation or rules about attaching a baby seat (car seat) to the bench seat on my boat? i've seen child seats advertised online in england, sits on a pole attached to the boat, kind of flimsy looking to me. my seat would very easily strap to the bench seat with room for her to wear a lifejacket.

Haven't seen any. Big thing however is safety. Never know what's going to happen and if the child is strapped in the lifesaver won't buy her much. I'd take Putting her in your lap over that and you can hold the steering wheel with your leg while your free hand is operating the shifter and throttle.

It would seem more logical to focus on keeping your child's head above water instead of tethered to a boat. I would opt for a life jacket and calm water.

Maybe tether her to the kill switch? and yourself?

ok, if this is too insensitive, let me know & I'll edit it out, but........let's be realistic, a single man with a baby and a hot boat - you won't be on your own for long - I doubt you'll even have the boat in the water before offers to ride along start rolling in....................

I can see how you'd want a seat suitable for a 19 month old fastened to the boat, but I wouldn't buckle him/her into it. Just let them sit/lay in it with a lifejacket on. At that age, I think you might be asking for trouble doing trips single handed. Mucho better if someone is there to supervise/occupy the kiddie at all times (when you're busy with the boat). Worst case is hire a babysitter to come along.

No spuds aboard until they're old enough to walk and learn how to swim...no exceptions. Entirely acceptable to bring along a good looking wet-nurse however, and go from there.

i have 1 and 4 yr olds, 4 yr old has been on the boat since birth. i can't imagine getting a life jacket on them and then getting them in a car seat. just won't fit. also would never do it. put an approved vest on them and then someone has to hold them.

I agree with the last post. It's not worth it to take such a young one out.
