Where is the safty switch on a Johnson model RKL25D? And what does it look like?

Re: Safty switch

actually there are several, there is the lever, that keeps the throttle from being turned too far when in neutral, above the shift lever near the flywheel. there are the mercury switches, on the throttle linkage on the lower port side, that cuts out the spark if throttle is to high if it is in gear.

Re: Safty switch

RKL is a 1963 Electramatic shift motor. The safety switch is on the starboard side, on a little angle bracket, up just below the flywheel. It is operated by a brass cam on the magneto plate as the throttle is advanced/retarded. The safety switch controls both the starting throttle position and the operational range of the vacuum cut-out switch.
