Just looked at an 18' Sailfish yesterday. Also want some input from an experienced sailfish owner. If you bought the Sailfish how has it treated you?

WHOKNOW.I have a 2001 sailfish boat 174
centerconsol.I like it, I rated the quality of the boat 3 from 1 to 4 scale.Have no problem with it yet.The dealer has been nice, the manufacture never returned email about the calibration of the tachometter.

Roscoe,
What do you mean by big ooops.
Do you have any first/second hand experience?
What is it about the boat or the company you have experienced??

The oooops I refer to is my misunderstanding of what a "Sailfish" boat actually is. My brain was running low on caffeine and thinking it was a sailboat, but instead it is a big boat with a big motor that goes zoom zoom zoom on the ocean.

I wish I was shopping for a boat like that.

Good Luck.

Re: Sailfish boat owners out there?

My Father-in-Law bought a 18' Sailfish. Fit and finish seemed to be superb untill the Gel coat started to crumple at the corners caused by air voids. With 30 calls into Sailfish and about 5 trips to differnt dealers for repair estimates the gelcoat was finally repaird. I wonder if Sailfish bought Sea Pros old molds because their hulls sure do look alike. The ride is good, went out in the ocean today with quite a bit of chop...it didn't quite cut through like the deep vee's that I am used to but for a smaller boat I think it handled the chop well.

The only real gripe I have with it is the rear rod holders are located to close to the rear hatches and you could loose a rod while trying to open a hatch door with a rod in the rod holder....

The layout seems to be like Sea Pros boats, so if the fit and finish is not of high priority then I would go w/ Sea Pro....that's just my wallet talking. Good Luck with your new boat.
