Salt: Treat my boat like my jet skis?

I used to own a pair of 1987 standup jetskis. Before heading off into saltwater, I would cover the carb with a plastic bag and spray the entire engine with wd40. When I got back home, I would flush the skis and then spray the engine down with water and then wd40 again.

Should I be doing the same thing with my I/O boat when heading to saltwater? WD40 or something else?

You should get zero water in the engine bay, but I WD or some other corrosion stuff all metal anyway, and white grease (spray can) anywhere and everywhere on the outdrive except the anodes , and really worked in to the bellows, and go have fun, ...rinse and repeat
