Hello all.
I have 4.3 liter OMC Cobra system. I bought the boat last summer knowing it had spent a very short period of it's life in salt water. The previous owner explained how meticulous he was in flusing after each use. Well.. Late this season, I was smelling some burning rubber while cruising down the lake, and found that the rubber exhaust couplers were melting on the port side! Long-story short, the water jackets in the exhaust manifold were totally corroded shut, allowing no water to flow through and cool the exhaust system. I was able to clean away the corrosion, and am getting full flow of the water (using garden hose), but noticed a pinhole leak through the inner wall spraying into the exhaust chamber. I know that need to replace the manifold(s), but was wondering if anyone with experience thinks my engine block may the same condition?!?
Thanks
