there is a trollingmotor for sale , but it has bin used in salt water frequently , does the salt water bring any damage , is there anything i should look for . and if there is is it easy to repair .
Some Minn Kota motors were made for use in saltwater. The older ones have the letters ss as a suffix on the model number. The more recent ones - since '96 or '97 - are called riptide. I ran an old ss motor for 11 years and now have a riptide that I have used for 6 years. On both motors the only problem that I had was corrosion on the cast aluminum parts. I look for paint that begins to look bubbled and then scrape the areas down and prime and paint each off season.
