I have a VP duoprop that I am getting all too familiar with. This is my first boat and first year. I hit some rocks at the dock while coming in on sunday, so I was changing the props yesterday(2nd time this year) and I noticed sand in front of the forward prop. The last day out I was anchored at an island and the tide went out as we were playing on the beach. When we got back to the boat I could feel us hitting (not hard but you could feel it) the bottom if a large wake would pass. So I pulled us out with the achor line and repositioned for another hour or so. when leaving a pulled anchor and walked the boat to maybe 4 feet and jumped in and took off.
Is this sand "normal"? Is it doing any harm? When I turned off the second prop nut everything felt normal without any grit. I cleaned every groove and thread with towels and did not see any wear or scratchs on the shaft or inside the grooves. Do you think I'll be OK. I hesitate to ask my Mechanic because the drive is still under warranty and I don't want to put him in the middle of something down the road if the drive needs legitimate work.
