Would sand blasting be to aggressive for removing gel coat from a fiber glass boat?

Yes. You will really pit the glass bad with sand. If your wanting to strip your boat look into some other type of media such as wallnuts. I'd ask around some body shops to see what they use. Can't remember what it was but there is one media out there that strips well but wont evan scratch glass.

Yes that would be too rough IMO. There are sodas and walnut shells you can use instead. Anything too aggressive will leave a rough surface that you'll have to smooth out prior to repaint.

It's a project boat that someone used a brush to apply a coat of gel coat. I know i can DA it but man thats a lot of sanding. I have my own compressor and 1000# blast pot. Surely theres something i could blast it with. Crying in my beer.

Looks like soda is the way to go. There is an outfit in Dallas where the boats at that does portable soda blasting. I
ll call tomarrow and price the job. I found the soda for $40 for 50# also. I dont have the time to sand it and stripping is out of the question.
