I rolled my primer without any thinner and the results are not great to say the least. I sanded a spot with 120 and she is very smooth without any scratches in the primer that I can see. Should I wet sand with a lighter grit over top of the 120 or think she can just be shot? Thanks for any input.

I put four thin coats. Overkill? Wog I also bought the tractor paint that has gloss. Can I spray clear coat over it before it cures completely. I'm worried the clear coat not adhering good with the gloss in the paint. Thanks wog for all you do for us buddy.

Some clarification needed. The paint will take up to a month to fully "CURE" It only takes about 4-6 hours, depending on the temps for it to "DRY" enuf to be recoated. Having said this, Clear coat is typically a "Hotter" mix than the paint and can cause it the "Wrinkle" if the paint has not "Cured/Hardened" enuf on the surface so the Hot mix Clear coat won't wrinkle it. So if all this kinda makes sense to you, the answer to your question is 2 part. 1.) I wouldn't clear coat it at all cuz it's so glossy it doesn't need it and clearcoating it makes touch-ups much more problematic and 2.) if you decide to clear coat it I'd wait at least 48 hours before doing so and shoot the Transom first to make sure it does NOT wrinkle/crinkle it. Hope that all makes sense.

That makes perfect sense. I was going to use the clear coat because I hear it will help the paint not to fade. I I can't find the color I want in flat so I bought the gloss. Think the primer will be alright with the 120?

Thanks Wog, try to send you some pics when she's done. Btw, I redone the deck and used overtons nonskid, looks and feels great. I think the problem with the first deck was that I did not paint it, just covered it with carpet. Wish I would of known that poly is not 100% waterproof and it needed that extra layer of protection from the paint to seal it. Ohh well. I know now.lol

Poly is pretty much waterproof IF you add wax to the last coat. Gelcoat is a Poly product and you don't see much water getting through it. What happened to the poly deck?

Water got thru, it was either do to not painting or just crappy work. It makes me feel better if I blame the poly. Lol Got her all fixed up now and turned out great. I guess the second time around I kinda know half a.. What I'm doing.
