Santa brought me a new winch strap is it strong enough?

Got a new winch strap for my boat trailer in my stocking this year. The strap is rated for 2000 lbs. My boat weighs 2700 lbs empty. Do I need a strap that is rated over the weight of the boat?

Not unless your trying to dry dock it, I can usually pull my boat up onto the trailer by hand, then tighten winch up at tie down area.
Furthermore if you were in a drydock situation the bow eye strain would be my main concern.
If the strap fits in your winch 2-1/2" I would just use it, my strap has never been payed out except for the last 3' or so, the rest has never seen the light of day.
