I am looking at a 1978 Santa Cruz 28 Ft but I noticed where side windows meet forward deck windows they leak to the inside. The windows are wood trim and Carver did not design them to shed water like the aluminum windows in later models.Has anyone tackled this problem? Thx

Re: Santa Cruz 28

How good is the deal?

I just picked up a 1979 28' Mariner that has a little wood rot under some of the fiberglass, but the deal was exceptional, meaning I couldn't pass up the boat even knowing I has some work needed. It seems that the early model cruisers seemed to suffer from this from what I've researched, but the boat is still very solid.

I say if the deal warrants the effort then go for it depending on what your intents are. Personally I couldn't loose even if the boat I scored only lasted another 10 years with minimal investment in upkeep (which I'm certain it will, if not more).
