It's been a long strange ride to date. In have a legacy problem with 1990 Tracker deep Vee. In it's previous life it had a steady diet of salt water. I have managed to solve most of her problems to date except for the stiff stearing. No, it is not the cable. Yes i have greased the top and bottom fittings, grease seams to appear around the top of the steam, but not the bottom. Without the stearing arm attached, the motor is very stiff to move. I have tried spraying PB blaster, and cab cleaning in the lower fitting followed by the grease gun with no help. What should I do next?
Problems solved to date:
oil/fuel pump replaced with a fuel pump.
Bad ignition replace with a defective ignition replaced with a good ignition.
Dirty carbs cleaned.
Broken spring replaced with a new suspension.
Connecting rod bolts backed out, chewing up the case, bearings and crank!
Piston, rod, crank, seals, gaskets replaced (FYI, did you know that you can reuse rings without honing the cylinder, on a different piston?) Worked great!
Bad lift assist cylinder replaced with an aftermarket power trim unit.
She is becoming more of a full time job than a hobby.
How about a little love here boyz, how do I fix the stearing?
