HI
saw a real gem on the weekend, I was at my local ramp and there was a fisherman there with a rather large shark, now of course this created a crowd of people looking at it, and, a guy came in from fishing in about a 16foot aluminium boat and saw the crowd and got to the jetty and got out to see "wazzup" in his rush he forgot to tie his boat up, he was there for a minute and someone alerted to him that his boat was floating away, he took off at a gallop, got to the edge of the jetty and took a huge dive, he landed belly first on the bow rail, doubled up and fell backwards into the water, now here he was in the cold water, winded from the bowrail to the guts and trying to swim as best he could, the "shark lookers" thought this was quite amusing and began to giggle and point, this poor guy got to his boat and in his cold, wet and wounded state could not get back into his boat, poor bloke! just then another boat came in, dragged him on board and tied his boat up and towed it back to the jetty, if only he had waited a minute he would not have needed the great leap and miss episode and would still have been dry as well as it quite a busy ramp and someone would have come along very shortly.

Kind of pathetic that no shore onlookers helped. :(

Being "winded" in the water is a recipe for drowning.

yes I guess the "shore lookers" could have helped, but no too sure how as they were just looking not in a boat! and it was all over in a jiffy, the realisation of "not tied up" the great leap and the swim, but I would say the dive was at least a 9.5 but the entry was definately a score of only 2

Yeah, I do not think he will be doing the "the great leap" anytime soon.
but I bet I would have done the same thing
