SC1000 gauge question

Hi. I recently asked about fitting a lowrance fuel flow transducer to my 4.3mpi v6 but have now decided to get the mercruiser sc1000 tach/speed gauges. But I'm not sure of the correct set to get. My engine number is IA064661 and I have seen a set with these numbers 79-8M0063160 KT-TACH/SPD 80BLK and was wondering if they would be the correct set to get. The wiring harness on the motor is 14 pins, which someone told me was easier to install to than the 10 pin.
If someone could advise, that would be nice.

Re: SC1000 gauge question

Yes, it'll work.

Engine Harness
General Information
• Fuel injected MerCruiser engine models are "SmartCraft" ready and may be rigged using the SmartCraft instrumentation, analog instrumentation, or a combination of both.
• The SmartCraft data is carried in the 14 pin system without the use of a special data harness.
• Adapters have been made to adapt a 14 pin connector engine to a 10 pin connector boat and from a 14 pin boat to a 10 pin engine.
• If an adapter is used the accessory current through the boat harness is limited to 15 amps even if the boat has a 10 pin harness that in the past has been capable of handling larger accessory loads.
• SmartCraft data is not supported across the adapters so a separate CAN line will be needed on a boat using SmartCraft instrumentation and an adapter harness.

The Smartcraft instrument package will also aid in engine diagnostics. The SmartCraft instrument package will display critical engine alarm data and potential problems. Refer to the Mercury SmartCraft Operator's Supplement (90‑10229023) for the warning functions monitored and basic operation of the SmartCraft Instrument package. Refer to the instructions included with the instruments for installation instructions.

Thanks Fun Times. Your first three words were like music to my ears.
I'll get permission then order a set.

Re: SC1000 gauge question

Gauges installed. Not water tested yet. Most info is up on the screens. There is a fuel sender alarm up for tank level I think. I've been able to tell the system my tank size but till I fill it and get it in the water I'm not sure that it will tell me tank level and range etc. It tells me fuel used while the engine was running so it is promising.
At the transom and on the motor I have a couple of plugs that are not connected. One is fuel, at the motor, one is digital steer and the other is pitot. I'm not sure where these plug in.
Also, my lowrance is on its own network with the gps puk. It is nmea 2K. Am I able somehow to connect the sc1000 sytem to the lowrance network? The sc1000 speedo has two wires marked nmea 0183.
Thanks
Neil
