:) Just a heads up for the Left Coast Florida folks. Tuesday, July 1st starts scallop season. Reports so far show them in abundance, so get ready for another good year. This year they are in close (4-6') and we have a limit of 2 gals person or max 10 gals/ boat in the shells per trip . Also from Hernando county line north. You cannot dock in Pasco with scallops in your boat. Always lookin for some good scallop recipies:D

If I give you my address, in upstate New York, when can I expect to see some show up at my door packed on ice? I'll return the favor by sending you down a cooler full of snow once winter arrives.

Allright fellas, just don't see where a little frozen rain can match up to those tasty bivalves. And if I really really want some of that stuff I'll scrape it out of the freezer. Anyway, two gallons in the shells gives ya about a pint, or enough for two with fixins. However, head south, bring the boat, mask and snorkle and I will be more than happy to caravan to the hot spots:D

Now you're talkin, John that's more like it. We got some pretty good perch fishin down here as well. Problem is in the summertime the waters so hot the darn things are half cooked by the time ya get em. Leave em in the trunk on the way home and they taste like jerky:D I'm sure you would be offerin up some better tasting fish...

Wow, as a gourmet enthusiast I dream of fresh scallops. It's difficult if not impossible to get fresh ones out here in western NY. How big in diameter are the scallops you are getting? Are large ones out deep?

As for recipes a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper on DRY scallops (may not be a problem if they are fresh) then lightly dust the flat top and bottom with flour. Saute in a pan until almost half is not translucent, flip and wait for the rest to become opaque (nice solid white). Do not over cook, they aren't nearly as tasty.

I am incredibly jealous right now...and hungry.

Re: Scallops are in

Just posted my "second edition" post after a day out today. We did great as you can see in the pictures. These little guys are the size of the end of a coke can or smaller. We cull them and never take the really small one's altho there is no limit on size, just how many you can have on board. Thanks for the recipe...I have one almost like it and you are right about not overcookin em. They get rubbery real quick!! Check out the other post..Thanks :)
And Hey bamafutbal, make sure you swing on into Grannies for that Big breakfast of biscuits and gravy before headin out...as you can see in that other post ya'll should have a fine day..just a little deep.
