scan disk ?

when instructed to run scan disk for windows,does this mean to run the start up disk ? are they the same ? how/where do i get one?

Scan disk used to be a program you could run from system tools in older versions of windows to check disk integrity and clean up from improper shutdown. If you are running WinXP your only option is the command CHKDSK from the DOS prompt. If not xp then right click C drive in my computer and properties. on tools tab under error checking click check now. Checks for file system errors
