I love your posts being a sparky myself! Do you have a good schematic for a battery combiner? What I want to do is have a circuit to sense when voltage level is above 13 volts to pick up a relay,or maybe gate a power transister. You seem to have some great ideas. By the way really liked you print outs from GE on the auto charger. Loper

Re: Schematic

Hi loper:

Not quite sure what you mean... Can you tell me your exact plan, then maybe it'll ring a bell...

Re: Schematic

Schematic, thanks for the reply. What I want to try to build is a battery combiner, that will charge second battery in my boat without the battery switch being set to both. WWW.westmarine.com has a description for one that they sell. Don't go to any trouble, I just thought you might already have the schematic. thanks loper :)

Re: Schematic

Why not install a battery isolator? Also a zenor (sp) diode might do the trick.

Re: Schematic

Hi loper

I can't see any benefit of a combiner over an isolator. Isolators are cheap to buy and easy to build.
:)
Re: Schematic

schematic, very good drawing and I had thought of an isolator, but the isolator will require me to do some rewiring on my system to isolate my accesory power from switch on power. Still after reveiwing it and getting out the wiring diagram on the motor, I am going to do the wiring and build an isolator. Thanks again, and as always I enjoy all your well explained and written posts. Loper :)
