If you start doing a lot of printing on 4x6 paper, I would recommend you look at the "Epson boarderless 4x6 Premium Glossy Photo Paper". It runs around $15 for a pack of 100. If you like it keep an eye on the Office Max ads as they run a 2 for 1 special every now and then (I'm waiting for one now....). I think the paper is as good as the Canon Photo Paper but much cheaper. Make sure you use the easy photo print software if you are printing from the PC, and you will have great prints
Let me know when you see the "Office Max Sale" ref 4x6 Epson paper.... OK? I live about 30 min from you and will take advantage of it as well. Thanks... :)

Re: Scooch_2... R U Out There?

I've been keeping my eye out as well. We burned through a bunch of it before Christmas as my wife did a lot of scrap booking and we made a lot of prints for the family (we have a 15 month old baby we have to send pictures of regularly). This week Office Max has it for 25% off, but I'm waiting for the 2 for 1 deal. Shouldn't be long now.

How do you like the prints from the printer?

Printer is unbelievable! I love it. Every print is just fantastic. Ink is still full as far as I can tell. Will order the refill kits soon. Need to start buying paper now, so I wanted you to let me know if you see that 2 4 1 sale you mentioned. Worth a trip for that price.

Do you do any post processing or do you just print em straight out of the camera?

You will be amazed at how long the ink will last when doing 4x6's, plus the printer will alert you to any low ink.

Personally I never print from the camera I Import into Picasa and make adjustments redeye, cropping, enchancing.

Many times, I will copy off the camera and just print with EasyPhotoPrint. The rest I use Photoshop Elements to clean up a bit and then print.

I have Nikon Capture and Photoshop Elements 3.

The printer is really amazing. I test the water with a 4x6 after tweaking and then if I like it the good ones go to 8x10. So, I plan on using a lot of 4x6 paper. The printer came with some Canon 4x6 paper for a test. Glossy. What a nice paper that is! Photo Paper Pro sample pack. I bet that is a pricey package in 8x10.

Costco has a Kirkland brand photo paper (8.5 x 11). I think it was $15.00 for 125 sheets. I would give it a try.

I bought some Konica paper that won't hardly feed through my HP. The glossy side is so sticky that it tries to pull everything under it into the printer.

Gil, do they make any claims re the Canon ink, such as waterproof etc.

Keep in mind none of the digital printing medium has stood the test of time. A couple years ago Epson was running a tiny disclaimer at the bottom of their printer ads (both consumer and professional models) that the ink and paper was only guaranteed for 2-years IF you keep it sealed, out of sunlight and not exposed to circulating air. The disclaimer was the result of an independent lab using heat to exacerbate degradation emulating the passage of time, to test Epson’s claim of a 20-year or 50-year print life.

Boomyal – as you probably know Kirkland is a re-label brand. For instance, the Kirkland AA batteries are Duracel batteries with a Kirkland label on them. Don’t know who makes the photo paper for inkjet printers but Costco’s re-label stuff is usually good stuff or better.

Re: Scooch_2... R U Out There?

I am aware of the issue ref degrading/time. Will keep an eye on things. Have some original prints under glass and some sealed in an envelope. Some on my desk exposed to the elements.

Boomyal I am not aware of any specific Canon claims for ink other than they warn of the standard risks of exposure to smoke, UV ect...
