I have a Scott 40 (McCulloch) motor on a Chrysler Sport Fury, and I do not know WHERE to find a serial number (or anything) on this motor. The overall goal here is to find a repair manual on the motor so that I can start testing/repairing any possible problems.

Here are some numbers that I got from just inspecting the motor:

On the flywheel - MODEL GEM 4065 40 HORSEPOWER

DELCO-REMY Starter (or alternator) MODEL # - 8560 SERIAL # - 7735

On a metaln plate on the transom side of the motor - 336 4781

Any information that you can supply will be greatly appreciated

336A is a model number. Should be a 1959. However, that number also appears on the cover of my 1957 model 3675 parts catalog. I haven't quite figured that one out yet. AND/OR....that 336-4781 number you came up with could also be a part number. Got a picture of where you found it??
