I have a 1968 Flying Scott, model 332, serial# 3321492 60 hp, I have service manual with it the motor looks to be in good shape,It needs timing belt and one set of points for sure, It has been siting for a long time ,so lower unit may need seal kit, and water pump impeller, It will fire on all 3 cylinder ,so now what i would like to know is it worth spending money on where thay a good outboard?
thanks river run

Howdy, RR.
Scotts were excellent engines. Unfortunately they were made too well for the price, so they went broke and sold out.

If I had one I would surely try to keep it in running order.

BTW, double posting is considered rude and impatient. I suggest you exercise some patience.

Good luck. :)

I wouldnt reccommend a Scott as an everyday
motor. I have seen only 2 Flying Scotts
Both were almost new at the time one was not running right and the other was not running at all. They were an impressive flashy looking motor
with great potential. But I think they were put into production prematurely.
I have factory service letters on a number of
Scott motors that reccommend repairs and
modifications without full disclosure to the customer.
I think they are becoming more collectable but
the market is pretty narrow.
Check www.scottatwater.com lots of great stuff.
Good luck.

Thanks for reply guys
I don't think it will take much to get the scott running, so i will but the timing belt, points and what ever to get her running,Here in canada boat motors dont get much running summers to short maby thats why this one stayed in such good shape,
thanks again river run

Ps,sorry for double posting PC acting up didn't
seem to be working right, outboards arn't the only
things with gliches!!

JB's got it right. They were fine engines. They made a 3cyl. 75hp. engine, and when it was working right was the nemesis of all the Mercury racers. We called 'um "Scatwaters".

c/6

Hooty
