Scotty brand clamp-on rod holder mount?

Hi All, just bought a new 10 foot portabote, and I'm wondering if anyone uses the Scotty clamp on rod holder and can give a review of how well it works. I have a number of the Scotty rod holders that I move among my various boats. I'd rather use a clamp-on type holder, rather than drill into the boat, but don't want to pay the money if they're bad for this application/portabote.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I used the Scotty oarlock mounts, but had to use longer bolts to fit.
