Hi guys,

Need some advice on this boat "Scout / Abaco 280".. It looks like hell of a boat for 28 footer... Composite (wood free) material, very nice finish over all, big cabin, full head, plenty of fishing capability and space.

I found one here at the dealer, only 6 months old with twin 250 Merc EFI two stroke outboards on it, with Factory installed A/C system for the cabin and comes with 7K Kohler (gasoline) Generator.

Previous owner ran into a reef, no body damage however he broke the lower unit on one engine. Dealer took the boat back, replace the unit with org. part gave her a nice buff and selling it for $ 100 K. Boat is only 6 months old, less than 30 hrs on the engines. Previous owner was a son of a rich guy (is this always the story???) so It seems I'd be getting a (almost) brand new boat with bunch of extras on it (GPS, Stereo, Generator, all the fishing gear -good stuff- trailer, boat cover... you know the "works")...

So here is the my "thing", dealer is proposing a brand new one (2005) with twin Johnson 225 - four stroke engine's with same full package including the A/C system and generator (except the fishing gear and stuff) for $ 111 K.

So should I pay another $ 10 K to go for it? Is this Scout really worth the money, I mean it is a 28 feet boat....

any idea's?

Tough question. Have you compared the Scout to Triton? Of course there are several lines that would be priced under these. Sorry I'm not much help, but you should get lots of responses over on www.TheHullTruth.com

Kelly Cook
