Previouse owner used longer screws than he should have to put bunk boards on. Have one hole in bottom was thinking of using a rivet covered in jb weld to fix. I am no where need a qualified welder.

Re: Screw hole in bottom of pontoon

Welcome to iboats.

I have seen people use a small screw and a rubber washer with some 3M 5200 but I don't know how that would hold up to being loaded on a trailer, it would certainly tear up your bunk.

I would be tempted to use just JB, scuff the crap out of the area and go way bigger than the actual hole, put a peice of tape over it to keep the JB from running out.

Or JB Water Weld. Two part stick putty that you cut off what you need, KNEAD it, and stick it in the hole. Overfill, then sand off. I have used the stuff to attach my depth finder to the aluminum pontoons... Works great. Keep a stick in my toolbox in the boat... just never know.

Well thanks for the reply. Dipped a rivet in jb weld put it in hole popped it. Smerd left over jb on outside of rivet, sanded smooth took her out yesterday, inside is dry as a bone!!! Hope repair lasts a while but should it fail in a few years I can redue it.
