Hi all I have been plugging my scuppers on my 99 key largo 160cc because they let a lot of water in when I move around the boat. Now the other day I was out in the bay and I hit a good size wave and water came over the bow now I know I should of had them open but will they remove enough water to keep the boat from sinking if I continued to hit big waves? And dose any one know if the older key largo have adequate foam to stay afloat. Thanks dan

If you stuff the bow again and again nothing will keep you afloat...... If you take a couple hundred gallons over the bow every 5-10 minutes and stay on the throttle then yes it will likely drain overboard.... MOST older boats that have foam only have enough to keep a foot or two of the bow sticking up with the transom hanging straight down if they are fully swamped

First rule of boating, never plug drains. As you found out, they are there for reason.

I've taken upwards of 6" of water in the cockpit from a single event and it drained overboard in less than 30 seconds.
Then again, my boat is designed for offshore use. I have 4 - 1.5" drains in my deck. Your mileage may vary
