I picked up a mid to late 80's Hurricane Sd 176 Geneva.

Needs a bit of work, a good cleaning, Uphostery, new floor???, repair the keel and outer keels, if thats what they are called. I'm looking at a motor for it on Sat, 135 Evinrude.

I contacted Godfrey Marine, AKA Nautic Global Group, today 574-522-8381, and spoke to a nice woman named Terri. I asked for spec and build information. She stated she would make copies of all the info she could find and mail it to me. Would most likely go out today. I'm looking forward to see what she sends.

I think this should be a fun project and get us upgraded from the 1960's to the 1980's. I've always liked the deck boat style and have looked for years but never found the right one to buy. More seating, more power, More fun!!

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Thanks for the welcome.

Terri did seem very nice, hopefully a good source of information.

I'll try and get pics this weekend. If I recall correctly, it won't be quite as nice as your beautiful boat, I really like the camper / sleeper set up.

I'm about 30/40 miles west of Battle Creek. What brings you to the economic third world State of Michigan? I hope it has something to to with job growth!!!

Picked up a 135 Evinrude for my Hurricane today, got a sweet deal and it should be a great match for the boat.

Found my camera, right where I left it. I'll post some picks tomorrow of the boat and motor.

Re: SD 176 late 80's

30 degrees this morning, a little chilly taking pictures but here they are.:)

It's a 1984 Geneva style

Needs a good cleaning. I pulled off the side panels, the front upper back panels and the swivel seat today. The vinyl is not too bad, I might try and remove it from the old panels, cut new panels an re-attach.

I'm pretty happy overall, It's a solid boat needs a little work but for the price it's a good value. Knock on wood. We'll see what we find as I go:eek:

The 2x4 in the pics is just supporting the cover so the water stays off. I'm trying to get it dried out as much as possible before everything freezes for 3 - 4 months.

Cool boat, I love the older Hurricanes... I dig the front tinted windscreen.. It's gonna look great with some cleaning...

My womans family had a 22' Hurricane just like that growing up... It had a 5.7 i/o...

Good times from Battle Creek!

Bear, Yea I love that windshield. I kinda laugh 'cause it won't stop any water, but it looks great.

Hope to put the motor on it this weekend, not worried about connections, just need to try to dispose of the donor boat before the snow flys and gets too deep.

It definitely looks like a fun project. I have a '89 Hurricane SD 196 myself. I absolutely love it and I'm sure you will love yours too! Welcome aboard! :)

CaliCash Thanks for the welcome. We are close to the same era. You need a close up pic to show it off some, looks like a nice pier.

Have you ever had the deck off yours or done any transom work.

I think I have some deck work to look at and I'm trying to get any info I can before I pop the deck off. I asked Godfrey if they had and info on the boat and they gave me some wiring diagrams, but they have no build or construction information.
