I have discovered a leak in my bellows on the port side. A mechanic friend of mine says I need a
Transom Seal Kit.
I would like to order the necessary parts. This leak could be from last year and I am sure that it is the cause of some water coming into my hull. Not terrible amounts but it explains where it has been coming from. The boat seems to be operating fine other than this. ...... for now
But I have quit running it in the water until it's fixed. Can somebody please tell what I need from this page on iboats?

My questions are what ALL do I need to order to take off the outdrive, replace all bellows and hoses inside this area and put the outdrive back on?

Do I absolutely always need to replace the gimble bearing and U joint if they have been in a water environment? I would need a special tool to pull the old one out.
Thank you!

Taking you have a 1989 outdrive (outdrive serial number would be better), it looks like GLM 21950. It covers Mercruiser R, MR, ALPHA 1 (1983-90) S/N 6225577 & UP, ALPHA 1 SS (1986-89) S/N OA545004 & UP.

That said, if your in fresh water you should be able to reuse your clamps. Need to also buy the 3M or Merc adhesive.

Personally I wouldn't use non-OEM boots

Ayuh,..... I'd had Great luck with the Sierra bellows kits, 1st set lasted 10 years, a few years on the 2nd set, shoulda done 'em at 8 or 9, but it weren't Leakin',....
Any bearin' run under water, probably needs replacin',... Ya gotta look to see,...
Also, Do the Lower Shift Cable, while ya got it apart, they rarely last much longer than the bellows kit,...
I did use the Merc shift cable,...
'n Ya, there's also Special Tools,..... Dependin' on Yer toolbox,...

Thanks I ordered but did not order a shift cable ..... shouldda. Maybe I can get one at the local marine shop. The bellows appears to have been damaged by a rough spot on the yoke. It seems unfinished but I will file it smooth when I get in there. Maybe a puller of some sort from an auto mechanic will be handy. Handier than trying to do without.

When I disconnect the trim cylinders and remove the six nuts to pull it off ( trim down and shifter in forward ) will the cable still be attached? From what I saw, it comes off pretty easy? Is there anything else needs taken off or disconnected in removal?

Thanks Bondo and everyone else. Friday I take a whack at it Saturday reassemble. If that cable looks the least bit bad, I'll call the boat shop about a part and head down to pick one up. The bellows was damaged by a rough spot on the yoke I think. A rough spot. It can be seen as having been scratched and torn. More will be revealed.

The boat is fixed. Had to disconnect shift cable from atop the engine linkage first. remove the cable out of the casing first and then slide the whole cable out of the boat through the transom. Couldn't get to it from the outdrive. Shift cable nut was rounded from some previous owners fix-it job. This was a tough job. Most of the trouble was with the exhaust bellows, kept sliding off, but it's together correctly and not a drop of water entered the boat after 5 hours of running and anchored in the no wake zone swimming. Phew.
