Sea King 35 HP model GG8837A Fuel mixture

I just got a sea king 35 hp model gg8837a serial number 06x813648 and was wondering what the correct fuel mixture is it runs nice when i have the throttle open. When i try to let it idle it always wants to die i check the spark plugs and they were black. I have the fuel mixed at 50:1 right now.

Welcome to Iboats, corypet1.<br />You should use a 24:1 fuel/oil mix on that outboard, although some people sucessfully use 50:1 on similar models. Stick with 87 octane and TC-W3 outboard oil.<br />If you have serious fouling problems, that's not the fault of the fuel/oil mix. Do you have the correct Champion J4C or J6C plugs in there? Have you got the high speed and idle fuel mix controls adjusted properly?
