Hey guys im looking to buy a 5hp seaking motor. Couple questions. I havent seen it yet and dont know a model or serial number so im not sure of the year. The owner originally said it needed a water pump but then proceeded to say its 2 stroke and is not liquid cooled. Is this true? also when i go to look at it what should i look for?

Here are pictures if it helps determing which engine it is

Probably a Clinton. If I were you, I would keep looking.

The engine is air cooled but has a water pump to cool the exhaust so it doesn't cook the bottom crank seal. You should be able to run it for 30 sec without much damage.

If the water pumps gone the bottom seal is probably all ready cooked. If a water cooled engine over heats it starts running poorly. A Clinton/Eska runs without a working water pump happily till it BBQ's that seal or warps the exhaust leg.
