Re: SEA KING 5HP what year fuel oil mix

Alderman, first - Welcome to Iboats.

Your Seaking is a 1963 5hp engine, built by the Gale division of OMC. Since OMC also owned Johnson and Evinrude, your 5hp is mechanically identical to an early 60's Johnson or Evinrude 5.5hp. So parts are plentiful and inexpensive for your engine. Good news eh?
The proper fuel:eek:il mix for your engine is 24:1 87 octane gas to TCW-3 rated outboard oil. Spark plugs should be Champion J6C gapped at .030". Lower unit oil should be SAE 90W outboard gearcase oil.
Once you've got it started, you should immediatly replace the water pump impeller. They go bad just sitting there, and should be replaced at least every 2 or 3 years notwithanding use. Iboats, NAPA autoparts, or your local Johnny/Rude dealer can fix you up with a new one for less than 20 bones. Take apart your pump first before ordering parts, in case you end up needing a new housing too.

Good luck!
