I just inherited a Sea King 7hp motor Model# j700 1106b Ser# 362092 Type#60 27007 R. Can any one tell me what vintage this motor is and where can I get Parts. I'm pretty sure I need a coil ( the sparkplug wire insulation is cracked and I am getting no spark. The engine has been stored for a long time. Please advise

Novice -
Your J700 is a 1970 engine, built by the Clinton Outboard Company. Parts are getting hard to find. Try Twin City Outboards. Also, Iboats member CMitch posted this a while back:
Call Bill Mayberry at 563-652-2411. He runs Clinton Engines Products Company - all that remains of the corporation. He can probably help you. He has a shop accross the street from the old headquarters building in Maquoketa, IA.
Although the engine is air-cooled, the exhaust is water-cooled. You'll likely also need a new impeller since the engine was in storage. Age as well as use kills them.

Good luck!
