Hi Gang,
I have a 15 hp garage sale Sea King that is model #GG18802A and Serial # 36X868706. Can anyone tell me what year it is? I was also looking for a lead on an impeller for the lower unit. The dealers around here look at me like I'm from another planet when I ask them if they can order this part. Thanks a lot for your help!
andy
Luck WI

I know its a 55 or newer, but can't pin down the year. These folks will know though, www.aomci.org
You should check them out, lots of them up your way and a good bunch to run with.

AJB, welcome to the board. the Antique Outboard Motor site Ask a member will be able to answer the question. I bet you don't have a lot of dealers to choose from up there in Luck. Better to do your own work. Hopefully your Sea King was made by OMC. There is a chapter of AOMCI in Tomahawk that holds a meet every year. I know it is 2 to 3 hours away, but thought I would mention it anyway. Good Luck. One morr thing, There is a place called Twin City Outboards south of the Twin cities. They do work on old outboards, have parts etc. Here is the link
http://www.twincityoutboard.com

Andy,Your motor was made by the Gale Devision of OMC. Parts from evinrude/Johnson of similar years will fit your motor. NAPA auto parts has a 600 page Marine products catalog.
Their number for your impeller is:18-3002.
Fits 53-65 E/J motors. They list many other parts that will fit your motor as well.
If the motor has been sitting a long time go through the fuel system from tank to carb check
clean and repair all components as required. This is very important because that old gunked up gas will continue to foul things up over and over.
You may have to find a main branch of NAPA
for proper marine parts info.A few people have
said some branches dont have a clue.
I called a local branch(Syracuse NY)asked for their Marine products catalog. They had it in three days no charge.
You should have a service manual. The Seloc manual
56-70 Evinrude/Johnson Should have the same
info for your motor.
Good luck
