After assemby and before installing knob and primer cam.Turn high speed screw out 1/2 turn from gently bottomed. With cover on tighten knob with the arrow straight up.After priming and startting you need to adjust high speed to the best setting.Only instruction I find for the low spoeed is to adjust to the best sertting idling warm in gear. It would appear there isn't enough fuel flow or the carb is still gunked up.If it only runs after priming either no gas is entering in normal operation or the jet passages are still plugged.

How about the basic condition of the engine? Compression? Main bearings? Has it been run hot as most of them have been?

Have you had the cylinder off? Did you make your own gasket?

Don't take the head off;these motors don't have removeable heads
the 3 may not even have a rear cover.Just don't remove very difficult to install right.you can remove the cylinder.

The reason I asked about the gasket is I recently made one and screwed it up. Dang near drove me nuts trying to figure out why it wouldn't run. And believe me, I know better. Nobody's perfect.

FR no reflection on your suggestion;its best to suggest possible cures than to hold your tongue.I just wanted to be sure he didn't
remove the rear cover if it has one.
