Re: Sea Nymph 14k
Let me start off by saying welcome aboard jackwattley!
What I'm about to tell you will be scoffed at by alot of other posters on this forum, but take your new boat out on a calm day and find a stretch of water that's not congested. Gun it to about 3/4 throttle, then ease it on up to full throttle (WOT). then try a few mild turns and then more aggressive turns as your level of comfort rises. If you're comfortable with the boat's performance at W.O.T. then your fine. If it even slightly feels like it could get away from you then downsize the horsepower.
You should have a plate on the transom of your boat that tells you what the maximum recommended OBC certified horsepower is. I suspect yours will be over 20hp as most 14'ers seem to show up around 25hp.
Again, welcome aboard, you've found yourself a terrific forum!
